External runs can cross roads, landscaping, drainage and other underground services. Inside the building, risers and branches need room around structure, ducts, cable trays and ceilings.

Impact Plumbing & Gas reads the current fire drawings and looks at the work area before installation. We set out routes, install the pipework and keep it protected as construction moves around it. Buried fire-service lines need to be in before excavation is backfilled and surfaces are finished.

Our hydrant and ring-main capability includes:

The builder gets the fire pipework installed while the route is accessible, rather than reopening an area because a riser, penetration or valve location was missed.

Keep the fire roles clear

Hydrant pipework connects with work performed by other parties. The water supply point, pump arrangement, booster equipment, design decisions, testing, certification and ongoing maintenance each need a nominated owner. Impact Plumbing & Gas works on the pipework installation allocated to us and coordinates site access with the builder and nearby trades.

What to send with an enquiry

Start with current fire drawings and the construction programme. Include the building address, the type of work, known water-service information and the dates each area will be available.

We also need to know whether the job has external hydrant runs, internal ring-main pipework, risers or all of them. Mark up hard-to-access parts of the building, existing services that remain in use and the party supplying pumps or booster equipment.

A buildable route matters

Below ground, a fire-service line may share ground with drainage, electrical conduits and incoming water. Above ground, it can meet a structural beam or clash with a mechanical run. These are construction problems, not paperwork problems.

Does the hydrant work include pumps, design, testing or certification?

Those services are separate from our hydrant and ring-main installation role unless included in the project engagement. Confirm the responsible party for each before work starts.
